Artists respond to the climate crisis

Birches at Cooper's Swamp, 2004
"Cooper’s Lake is a very beautiful, peaceful place, where I have watched geese, flocks of birds, egrets, even beavers busy building their dam. As a part of the Kingston, NY reservoir system, it’s free of boats, or swimmers. It offers spectacular views, including a panorama of
the “Devil’s Path”- a favorite hiking chain in the Catskill Mountains; and quiet, beautiful stands of birch trees. It was always one of my favorite places to sketch and provided inspiration for this and many other paintings for more than twenty years. Sadly, how long places like this will remain is uncertain."
